A world-traveling Holocaust exhibit, “The Courage to Remember”, is opening at Tallahassee Community College today.

The exhibit, which has been viewed by more than 2 million visitors and traveled to 73 different locations, will showcase more than 200 photos from the Holocaust as a part of the exhibit’s overall theme of education and remembrance.

Alfred Balitzer is chairman of the Foundation of California, which sponsors the exhibit tour. After nearly 70 years, he said, the Holocaust is in a sense as fresh and important as it was after War War II.

"The Holocaust reminds us of the role of hatred and bigotry," he said.

The traveling exhibit from the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s Museum of Tolerance in California will be on display at the Tallahassee Community College Center for Workforce Development, room 105.

The opening ceremony, which is free and open to the public, will take place this evening at 6 p.m.

Regular hours for the exhibit, starting Wednesday, are 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
